Location: Bergün / Bravuogn - the gateway to the Albula
Bergün / Bravuogn lies at 1,373 meters above sea level in the heart of the Albula Valley in the canton of Graubünden. The village is nestled between mountains, forests and meadows, and is also easily accessible - whether by car via the Albula Pass road from Zurich in 2 hours or by the famous Rhaetian Railway, whose Albula and Bernina lines are part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Even the journey there, with its viaducts, helical tunnels and breathtaking views, is an experience in itself.
The village of Bergün is characterized by historic Engadine houses with sgraffiti, narrow alleyways and a mature structure. The striking Roman tower bears witness to its medieval past. Particularly impressive is the Kurhaus Bergün, an Art Nouveau jewel from 1906 with a magnificent dining room, today a popular hotel with plenty of historical charm.
In summer, Bergün is a paradise for hikers: whether easy walks in the valley, panoramic summit tours or excursions into the idyllic Val Tuors - the variety is huge. In winter, Bergün is transformed into a fairytale landscape. The Preda-Bergün toboggan run is particularly famous. At six kilometers in length, it is one of the most popular toboggan runs in Switzerland. It is floodlit in the evening and guarantees speedy descents through tunnels and bends. The offer is complemented by ski slopes in Darlux, winter hiking trails and snowshoe tours. You can be skiing in 40 minutes by train from the Marguns valley station in Celerina.
